In an interview, her father Juan L. Babauta, a long-time educator, expressed his gratitude for the honor his daughter brings to their family.

Babauta said Amparo is “respectful to her parents and elders and at the same time she is a friend.”

She is always smiling and ready to help when needed, he added.

Babauta said when Amparo was still a child, her family already had the highest expectations for her.

We continue to support her academic endeavors, he added.

He hopes that his daughter will inspire the young people to achieve academic excellence.

Babauta said anyone can achieve their dreams with the support of family, friends and those dear to them.

With the support of those close to an ambitious and dedicated person, the dream to accomplish higher education is within reach, he said.

Camacho received her bachelor of science degree in psychology from the University of Maryland.

She is currently in Sacramento, California with her family.

Before working for PSS, she was employed by the Division of Youth Services.
