The Death Of James Dean – John Minton
Painter and illustrator John Minton committed suicide in January 1957, when his final work depicting a gravely injured man amidst onlookers was still unfinished. The painting was meant to identify Hollywood actor James Dean, who had died at the age of 24, two years previously in a car accident.
Minton’s suicide was as a result of his depression the popularity of his work declined.
