I find these tattoos pleasurable. Not only that i’m fascinated by their beauty, but anything done to promote mental health awareness is always welcomed by me. Because, just for the same course does this blog exist.
Mental illness awareness has been boosted this month with so many campaigns of which beautiful tattoos to be shown here are among several things used in support for those suffering from mental health issues.
We treat their depression like any other disease, and are hopeful our tattoos will help counter the social stigma associated with mental illness and depression, said Denise, whose two daughters struggled with ideation of suicide and self-harm. She participated in the campaign titled ‘Out of the Darkness’
“My skeleton key (which desperately needs touch-ups) was inspired by my struggle with depression. I got it when I was 22 years old. I was not well, and hadn’t been for years. Luckily I was in college and was able to utilize my university’s mental health clinic. During my sessions, my therapist shared with me that many people with depression put themselves in a self-created prison, and one of the keys to getting well was to learn how to get myself out. My tattoo is a reminder that I hold the key to freedom from my prison of depression. I am in control of my depression, not the other way around. Eight years have gone by so far, and it still serves me well.” – lizbeth6891
