5 Consequences of Low Self-Esteem

The way we think about ourselves, either high or low, all have commands on our lives.

When you feel bad about yourself and negatively reacts to life situation; When negative thoughts take over your thinking pattern.  Then, be assured that low self esteem has already set in.

Though, we are bond to face challenges that come from stress, which have become parts of our lives and often make us to doubt ourselves. Nevertheless, we must never give room for doubts to creep into our minds and stay.

Low self-esteem is not yet a recognized mental illness, but goes one on one with mental health. Because it paves way to some dreaded mental health disorders.

People with low self-esteem spend much time in ascertaining their negative and self-constructed beliefs, even though, they are okay and well-sounding as other people.

Dr. Lars Madsen, Australian clinical psychologist and self-esteem specialist said,

A person with low self-esteem takes things personally, and in a negative way”

According to Dr. Kevin Solomons, the author of the popular Low Self-Esteem book Born to be Worthless,’ Self-esteem system mostly moves us to make healthy, constructive and adaptive life decisions, but can go wrong, just as any system can. – psychcentral

It could be natural, to feel down about yourself. But when you allow those feelings to hang on for long, expect the following consequences:

Relationship troubles.

Those with low self-esteem are easily offended, provoked, and are too quick to be defensive. All they think about is how others are rejecting them. Because, they are self-centered and self-focused while suffering from narcissistic personality disorder.

Neglecting Oneself.

Things that were of utmost priority to you initially, like food, sleep and your general wellbeing start fading away from your wants’ list as soon as low self-esteem sets in.

Fear, Anxiety and Depression.

Madsen noted that people with low self-esteem try to verify their negative self-concept by seeking negative feedback from the people in their network. They focus on the negative feedback they receive from others, and become depressed while pondering on them. To worsen their situation, people perceive them negatively, which leads them to feel hurt and rejected.

Inability to try new things

Low self-esteem can make it very hard to try new tasks.

Halt your thinking pattern – Negative thoughts.

Over time, the assumption that you will fail and other negative thoughts will erupt. And all these may lead to severe mental health problems.
