After being diagnosed with Depression at the age of 16, Christian Hopkins, a photographer decided to express the misunderstood nuances of mental illness via images that double as source of education for those with little or no understanding of Depression and other mental health disorders.

I hope they elucidate the more amorphous symptoms of depression, and by doing so, help people understand what others — possibly even people they know — are going through,” she said.

Hopkins who is now 22 added that photographing how she’s feeling is a way to manage her depressive thoughts.
