This couldn’t have been your first time of seeing expressions like vaccines cause autism, alcohol kills brain cells, the bigger your brain the smarter you are; and host of other brain misconceptions. The harder people try to explore the brain’s secrets, the greater the false notions, because brain is indeed a mystery.

This article exist to shed light on some misconceptions about the brain and to as well share my own perception supported by various scientific research gotten from reputable online and offline journals. Below are some of the popular myths that are widely believed to be brain facts but challenged by scientists:

Vaccines cause autism.

A popular study once went viral, with claims that vaccines cause autism. However, scientists have properly reviewed the research and rejected the notion. They also shared their views, that there has been no conclusive, scientific evidence that any part of a vaccine causes autism. Recent studies have shown the connection between autism and genes that influence brain cell connections.

Brain Works Better Under Pressure.

Sometimes, we are of the notion that a ticking clock and the consequences of missing a deadline can be an excellent motivator. But, a study conducted by Franklin institute shows that pressure can only make you work faster, but, its stress reduces your brain performance.


5 Disadvantages of Being Highly Intelligent


As science gains greater insight into the consequences of stress on the brain, the picture that emerges is not a pretty one. A chronic overreaction to stress overloads the brain with powerful hormones that are intended only for short-term duty in emergency situations. Their cumulative effect damages and kills brain cells.
